Late harvest Alsace

Discover Bléger late harvest

The terms Vendanges Tardives, Sélections de Grains Nobles and Friandel refer to wines made from overripe grapes.

In addition to the identical grape variety and its aromatic character, there is the power of the phenomenon of concentration thanks to passerillage or the development of noble rot.

Late harvest

The Vendanges Tardives are harvested later, and only the dehydrated berries with a high sugar content are picked. The method used to make this wine is botrysisation, which requires a wetter autumn in order for the fungus to develop, known as noble rot.

After vinification, these will produce a very mellow wine with aromas of over-ripening. To the identity of the grape variety and its aromatic character is added the power due to the phenomenon of concentration and the development of noble rot (Botrytis Cinerea).

These wines can be kept for around fifteen years.

Grains Nobles selections

Sélections de Grains Nobles are the most prestigious wines in Alsace.

They are produced by sorting the grapes at harvest time, and only those affected by noble rot are harvested.

After vinification, they produce very sweet wines with a wide range of aromas. Concentration makes the identity of the grape variety more discreet, to the benefit of exceptional power, complexity and length on the palate. These are true masterpieces.

These wines have great ageing potential, and should be drunk around 15 years of age, but can be kept for up to 30 years.

Les Friandel

FRIANDEL is a unique production of the estate, these wines are slightly sweet.

These wines have the same sugar content as the Vendanges Tardives, but retain the aromas of the grape variety. The method used to make these wines is passerillage, where the grapes are kept on the vines after the harvest until they dry out naturally. To do this, we need a dry autumn.

The FRIANDEL cuvée is ideal for those who enjoy sweeter wines. These are wines of pure pleasure that can be kept for up to 15 years.
